Do you think drivers should have to be retested every 5 to 10 years?

Watching some drivers on the streets of my city, I wonder how they got their driving license in the first place. Do some drivers tend to forget the laws of safe driving and would having mandatory retests help to make our streets safer?

5 years is too long to determine the driver is not a problem to society to be high risk. for grave offense has to undergo at once the retest for the purpose to qualify to drive.

yes that is true but.......in doing so, you will only danger the entire planet, more people means more resources and we're running out, so by saving a few lives will be promoting the end of the world, sometimes people just have to die......u have to learn to accept it, when it happens to you, you will realize the same.....so in other words, there is no right choice we all die in the end.

I dont think its necessary to test them again.. its just a waste of time .. Drivers get more experience over these years and learn to drive better..

I think it would be a good idea, and the trooper giving the driving test should put more emphasis on using your blinker, and the Right of way laws than they do now! People around my area are complete morons to the laws of the blinker and right of way laws!

Of course they should be retested. . Things change sometimes drastically over the course of time. Eye sight, memory, reaction time, etc. . .We owe it to the public to try to make the nations highways as safe as possible. . . Wouldn't want to lose a loved one to someone who shouldn't even be on the road. . .D.W.

I THINK THERE (OPPS CAPS SRY HOLD ON) anyways i think there are bad drivers out there who will never change there ways but it's a good idea to re-test and re-evaluate, just to help those bad drivers, who've forgotten the laws, help maybe ya know, change their ideodic and stupid ways, after all it's best for the public.

i think they should take the test. after every 10 years. I know people who have been driving for 6-8 years and have forgotten the majority of the things. and where i live.. there has Been 378 accidents since new years because of drivers forgetting the main basic stuff to what made them pas the test in the first place.

it's all about attitude of d driver, it does not matter if he passes d test will drive better.. in driving experience matters..one should drive whn s/he is physically nd mentally fit..dats all

This question is incomplete. If there had been an age add to when retesting should be required, my answer would have been yes. After a certain age, reflexes slow down. I think anyone 70 or over should be retested on a yearly basis. They may have become unsafe drivers through no fault of their own but nontheless, they are just as apt to take someone's live as a driver that is unsafe because they don't follow the laws of the road.

I drive professionally, I think that there are alot of people that shouild not have drivers licenses on these roadways toady. If the state required people over the age of 65 to be retested every 3 years that would be a start. Also the people giving the roadtests, need to be professioanl Class A drivers and nothing short of that

If seat belts and car seats are required for safety's sake, shouldn't skill be a requirement too. More people kill other people with cars than anything else!

Yes.....they make Truck Drivers do it here in Ontario Canada ...at least a Written test should be given to all to remind them of the "Rules of the Road" it just might Save a life or Two
