Will the North Pole melt this year?

"This summer may see first ice-free North Pole"

Scientists have alarmingly predicted that this summer could see the first ice-free North Pole in recorded history. They say that the ice now covering the arctic is young and thin, and could melt off during the summer months, leaving the North Pole ice-free by September. Do you think this will really happen?

Yes, there will be no ice on the North Pole.
No, the North Pole will stay frozen this year.
Right choice

We're told we must change our habits and priorities to curb global warming, but astronomers discover that during the 10-year period that Earth was warming, Mars also warmed, and during the past year that temperatures on earth cooled, so did Mars.
Hmmm....

It's interesting... The north pole ice is melting, but south pole ice is thicker than ever. Then volcanic activity is discovered om the floor of the Arctic Ocean. Hmmm....

A group of scientists report that mean global temperatures rising one degree Celsius over a 10-year period is cause for alarm, but then it cools one degree in one single year and we hear nothing.
Hmmm....

it will definitely happen, i just don't think it will be this year. give global warming another 18 months or so and we'll see all kinds of crazy stuff happening that will put our world into a tailspin

It won't happen now, but it'll probably happen latter.

The South Pole is in a more dangerous position right now compared to the North Pole.

yes it will but not now. It is predicted that in the next decade the north pole will melt in the summer and freeze in the winter and eventually lead to melted all year round

Haha, the government try and get us to think that it is us making it all melt, but, from everything humans do Cars, Pollution, Built up areas, all of it added up comes to 0.8% of making it melt. It is the Earths natural things that are making it melt, check it out =)

2 years ago i would have said definately not. however, recent reports state that global warming and sealevel rise is happening at a greater rate than scientists worse case scenarios. one scorcher of a summer, and who knows,
this is a betting site, and i have a bad feeling.
i hope i lose this bet.

No the North Pole will not melt this year. The glaciers are not just on the surface, they go deep into the ocean and the temps below the surface are much colder. Even though we see some melting and breaking away the ice remains frozen below.

With global warming it's hard to decide whether the North Pole will melt. It's a vast area of land I think the North Pole will malt this year and will take a decade to freeze back

it's an important onebecause we'll start seeing changes in our climate, not huge but small changes. i mean yes we're getting warmer summers, well i think we are because the last one hasent been anything to comment on (in england) but all this is why we need to recycle and try to walk more than using a car BECAUSE IT'S OUR WORL AND WE HAVE TO LOOK AFTER IT!!!

it isnt so,the ice have been melting since last few years because of pollution which is consumed by developed countries more then the half and the earth temperture was increased to 3 grad last year. This summer there r few places at the north pole which were reletively ice free(not exactly 100%).But as it is melting so rapidly maybe we should see someday a ice free NORTH POLE , but it would be simply dreadfull.

Research shows that statistically the North Pole region will not melt this year even though the ice caps melt faster and faster every year from the pollution of our earth.
