Should anyone be allowed in America or should we stiffen the regulations that govern immigrants?

Most Americans originally came from other countries. America is a big melting pot of different cultures. In the past people came flooding to America without having to go though an "approval" process. Should we allow anyone to be a US citizen, keep the selection process as it is, or stiffen the regulations on being an American?

Allow anyone citizenship.
Keep the process the same.
Tighten the regulation for becoming a US citizen.
Right choice

I'd say allow it as is, but stop illegal immigrants. USA (Not America because it = Canada, Mexico, etc.) is fine the way it is. The immigrants come to the US to work hard and that's pretty much how the USA is kept up, but if illegal immigrants come in, not only is it dangerous for them, but the US will have too many confusions because of they're lack of personal info.

I think they should be even more restrictive who they allow to enter the country even temporarily before they consider them as applicants for citizenship

They should tighten regulations because, why should people be able to hop over a fence drop a baby and get to live off the government.

Although I love all races on earth; I feel that we allow too many people into our country. We have enough of our own problems to solve and by allowing anyone into our country complicates the issues we face as a nation.

why should people that live here for many years now be forced to learn spanish? Why can't they learn english? The MOST spoken language in the US. FYI before you bash me, I am learning spanish but I still belive everyone should learn english.

The Statue of Liberty bears a quote from "The New Colossus,” by Emma Lazarus..." Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door." If immigrants are citizens then they can pay taxes...creating more illegals by tightening laws already in effect...will just makes things go from bad to worse...my grandparents were immigrants...thank

I would be willing to bet that in Mexico, you don't have to press 1 for spanish. If I wanted to immigrate to Mexico, I would first learn to speak and write spanish fluently. If you want to live in the USA, learn to speak and write english fluently.

I have no problem with people from other countries wanting to live in the greatest country in the world, but i do have a problem with people living here illegally and getting government handouts. Also, if you want to live in the USA, go through the proper, legal channels and learn the language!! The official language of the USA is english so learn it or go home. I should not have to press 1 for the official language of the country that I am a citizen.

Regulations and enforcement are two different things. Enforce the laws we've written and supply/support the enforcement of those laws. Three negative items come to mind when illegal aliens enter the US. Bedbugs, no insurance/unliscensed drivers, fewer jobs.

I say keep it the same. I'm a LEGAL immigrant and I know how hard it is to get in, legally. There are lots of people trying to get in legally so making it harder wouldn't be fair. If we loosen the rules then terrorists might come in. Remember 9/11?

static-shock77 wrote 352 days ago
Enforce the laws! I think their incentive for coming over here illegally is because they think its too hard. We should still enforce the laws though.
We have good immigration laws. We just need for the government to enforce these laws.
I say BUILD THE FENCE!!!! Keep out all the illegal immigrants that are destroying our schools, hospitals, jobs, our economy.

The problem right now is not the people that want to be Americans. It's the ones trying to get into the country to do us harm. Most come here from other countries to be Americans with good intentions. All they need is a good background check and thats all. I say keep it the same way for them. But if an old person says that they want to come in for a better education so he can go back to his or her country. I would be more careful about them. A young person is a little different. We are HUMANS!

i think it shhould remain the same because re-enforcining the law will just complicate thing.in the sense that americans would have an image that states that you discriminate against foreigners aka "XENOPHOBIANS" like how it happen resently in south africa.

Tighten up the regulation and no taking from my tax dollars to support illegal immigrants.
I wish there were more choices to answer this question, but nevertheless, I believe that our regulations should be toned down a bit.

the process should stay the same. we need immigrants to support our current system. without seasonal workers or illegals, a head of lettus would cost at least $5!! Do you think your average Joe would go out to the field and work under the sun for 8 to 9 hours a day?? don't think so.

In the bet discription you said that before and i quote "In the past people came flooding to America without having to go though an "approval" process." Not true, except for in the very beginning before our country really got started we have always had some sort of "approval" process. what do you thing Elis ilsand was used for?

I really don't mind immagrants, as long as they work hard, pay their taxes and obey the rules. Its illegal ones that really bug me.
I don't care if immigrants come here and become U.S. citizens and work and pay their taxes...its the illegal immigrants that bother me...They come here and work and then take all that money, that would have help our economy is they spent it in the U.S., and go back to wherever they came from or they send it back...that is not helping our economy!!! If anything it's hurting our economy!!
