dotblu is a community dedicated to friendly competitive online gaming. As a member of the community, please consider the following guidelines when participating.
Ways to be a worthwhile member of the dotblu community
Create questions
Creating compelling questions helps nurture the best gaming community on the planet. In general, a good question consists of a clear question whose outcome is currently unknown but will have an answer in the future. If you'd like to write a question without a clear outcome, we encourage you to create a majority wins question, where the choice with the most votes wins.
Participate in questions
Participating in questions is what dotblu is all about. When you participate in a question, you show fellow dotbluers what you think about a certain topic. Also, when more people participate in questions, playing becomes more fun because there is more in the pot. More BluBucks in the pot means there is more at stake!
Rate questions
After a question has settled, you can rate it. This is important because it tells your fellow dotbluers that the creator of the question is fair. If a question wasn't fair, the best way to tell others is to give that question's creator a low ranking. Conversely, if the question was especially good and settled fairly, you should give the question's creator a high ranking to show that you appreciate their effort.
Things you shouldn't do
ZERO TOLERANCE: If you do the following, your bets will be deleted and your account will be reviewed for suspension.
Don't cheat!
Cheating is wrong. We have little patience for cheaters because they are deliberately trying to be unfair. Cheating makes dotblu less fun and our community less interesting. Here are some things that we consider to be cheating:
- Creating questions that you already know the answer to.
- Incorrectly settling questions in your favor to get you more BluBucks.
- Creating multiple user accounts to get more BluBucks.
In general, if you're trying to get an unfair advantage over other players, you're cheating. You shouldn't do it.
Don't say hateful things
Although our site is competitive, please don't say anything derogatory or hateful to others. Remember, there's a human behind every username.
Don't unfairly rate questions
We all take time and effort to create questions that we think will be fun for other dotbluters. Regardless of whether you've won or lost, please fairly rate questions. Here are some quick guidelines for question ratings (they're also on every settled question's page):
- 5 stars: Settlement was accurate and on time.
- 4 stars: Settlement was late but accurate.
- 3 stars: Settled, but I personally disagree.
- 2 stars: Question was not settled.
- 1 star: Settlement was intentionally wrong.
Don't spam the community in your questions or comments with ads for your stuff
When you create a question, please don't use it to advertise your website or anything else. Like anyone else, we hate spam.
Thank you for creating a great community with us!
